Developing a healthy morning routine is a great way to get yourself motivated for the day. By waking up with intent and accomplishing just a few activities you prepare yourself to have a productive day. I’m here today to share with you some ways to start your day off right. Pick one or two, or if your feeling ambitious maybe even five, and try them out! I hope they can inspire you to create some of your own healthy habits as well. Enjoy!

Wake Up Early
Waking up before the sun rises is something I’ve been doing for the past few years and it is such a rewarding habit! It gives me time to get some work done in the morning before I go to school which really influences my mindset for the day. When I’m able to accomplish just a few extra tasks in the morning I feel more determined to have a productive day. My favorite part of waking up early is getting to watch the sun rise every morning 🙂
The first thing I do every morning after I wake up is drink water. Hydrating yourself is so important, especially in the morning! After sleeping for 8 hours your body becomes dehydrated so before I even get out of bed I drink around 16 oz of water. This is a great way to fire up your metabolism and fuel your brain. Even just one glass of water in the morning can make a big difference!
Breathe in Some Fresh Air
Open your window or go outside and just take a couple minutes to breathe. I find it so refreshing to breathe in the fresh morning air so no matter the weather I open my window and take a few minutes to just appreciate life.
Move Your Body
Moving your body in the morning is such a great way to start off the day. There are so many different ways to get in a little early morning sweat session, whether it be yoga, lifting weights, going for a run, or even a walk, just do what feels good. If you’re really feeling ambitious you could even hit the gym for a full workout! I like to stick to a nice relaxing yoga flow.
Eat a Nutritious Breakfast
It is so important to eat a filling breakfast, packed with nutrients, to help fuel you for the day. Some of my personal favorites are overnight oats, smoothies, quinoa bowls, and avocado toast. Experiment with new recipes and have fun creating the perfect breakfasts for you!
Mindfulness is all about bringing your attention to the present moment and being aware. I find the easiest way to do this is to take a few minutes each day to meditate. Meditation is in no way about completely clearing your mind, let’s be honest, that’s impossible. Meditation is a time to observe your thoughts and how you feel in that moment. Don’t try to push away certain thoughts, simply observe.
Spread Some Love
Compliment that woman you see walking down the street on your way to work, whose smile is brighter than any other. Thank the bus driver and leave a tip for your server. Wave at the little kids you see in the schoolyard or a stranger passing by. Smile at the teachers you see in the hallway at school, because they’ve done so much for you. If someone gives you a hug, never be the first to let go. Call someone you love, just to tell them you love them. Better yet, tell them in person. Most importantly, don’t forget to love yourself. Be the person who does everything with so much love in their heart that it makes people forget about all the hateful things in this world. Do this in the morning, you never know who might need a little love just to get them through the day.
Do Something That Makes You Happy
Every morning I turn the music way up and dance around my kitchen like there’s no tomorrow while I make my breakfast. If anyone saw me doing this would they think I was crazy? Definitely. But does that matter? Nope. Because dancing around my kitchen like a crazy person makes me SO FREAKIN HAPPY. It’s hard not to smile when you’re doing something you truly love, and if you can find a reason to smile first thing in the morning then I promise your day with be a little brighter 🙂
If every morning, you can find a reason to say, “Yes, it’s going to be a beautiful day.” And every day, you find a reason to say, “Yes, it is a beautiful day.” And every night, you find a reason to say, “Yes, it was a beautiful day.” Then one day, you’ll look back and say, “Yes…It was a beautiful life.”-Doe Zantamata
